A Vision and Passion for Growth
Marriage & Faith
Devin and I have been married for almost 6 years! In those 6 years, we have grown A LOT. I thank Devin for my growth in my walk with the Lord, gratitude, and being a wife. He has taught me so much in our marriage! There are so many aspects of his life that I have had the privilege to watch him grow in. It is so beautiful to see someone you love so much continue to become a better version of himself. Together we complete daily Bible readings, regular church attendance, daily prayers, and discussions of faith to grow in our spiritual maturity. We know that if we grow in our relationship with God, we will grow in our relationship with each other. We are committed to continuously growing everyday in our faith so that we can grow everyday in our marriage. We hope we can encourage you to grow in your relationship with Christ through this blog.
Travel & Career
Devin and I are both travel therapists. I am a Speech Language Pathologist and Devin is a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Being travel therapists, you are thrown in the fire a lot of times to serve the setting you are placed. At times, it is so hard and we question everything we know about our professional skills. Working in a setting we have never worked in, serving a population we have no prior experience with, having to adapt (very quickly) to new EMRs/ policies/ procedures/ standards with each assignment, and being in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar co- workers dealing with unfamiliar circumstances. However, during those times, we always come out stronger and better. Looking back to where we were post grad/ doctorate program, it is so obvious how much we have grown in our careers! We have added more skills to our professional tool boxes in order to become more competent and effective therapists for our clients. And guess what? We are still growing everyday in our profession! Being a life long learner is key to being a good SLP and PT that grows everyday.
Health
From personal experiences, seeing our family members suffer from poor health choices, and serving the populations we do in diverse settings, Devin and I have grown a lot in our own health journey. We decided a long time ago to do our best to prevent any health conditions that are within our control. This has been achievable thus far with learning more about healthy and whole food diets, reading labels, holistic medicine, fitness, and supporting our body and brain to the best of our ability. Because of these changes, we have seen a positive increase in our energy, health, and overall understanding of our bodies. It is exciting to learn more about how to grow and nourish our bodies in positive ways. Devin and I are very active. We are always on the go any minute we get of extra time and away from work. This includes: hiking, mountain biking, paddle boarding, strength training, tennis, running, etc. If it is outside and we can do it together, we’ll try it!
Why focus on Growth?
We believe in the power of growth mindset. Devin is optimistic and I am more of a realist. We balance each other out very nicely 🙂 He has taught me over the years how to transform thoughts from fixed mindset to a growth mindset. I am still a realist but with a different point of view. Instead of seeing a task that is impossible, I alter my vision in a growth mindset to see the little victories in each step to get to the big picture. I have taught Devin how to view a problem and always find a solution. We may not have access to that solution immediately, but we will grow to obtain it.
With all this said, we want to encourage you to GROW right along with us. Join us on our journeys of faith, travel, lifestyle, health, and so much more to continue GROWING everyday!
